This shot was taken at the Golden Valley Tree Park in Balingup on the Nikon Z 7 with the Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens. The late afternoon sun combined with the bright autumn foliage resulted in some pretty spectacular colours that day. The tree park is located just out of town and is great to visit all year round.

On that particular occasion I decided to camp out along the beautiful Blackwood River. It turned out to be an exciting night! I had a walk along the river, some dinner and a glass of wine around the campfire before going to bed. I woke up around 5:30am to go for a morning shoot and it was pitch black, freezing, and very foggy.

As I was packing the last of my gear in the dark I heard a loud crashing of branches and an inhumane screaming squealing noise. As I squinted into the gloom, my sleepy brain slowing waking up, it clicked. Wild Boar! Charging at me through the forrest in the dark! My heart leapt out of my chest and I swear i've never jumped in my car so quickly.

Needless to say I got out of there pretty quick and so I never did get a good look at the beast of the fog. Who knows, maybe it was just a truffle pig. It was spooky that's for sure.
